Parking

Whenever possible, we kindly ask all participants to approach the venue by bicycle, as this is the easiest way to collect race packs. If arriving by car, several parking options are available. The large parking lot in front of Balatonfüred Aquapark (Fürdő utca 35) is FREE OF CHARGE. Further parking options with capacity and pricing can be found here: https://probiort.hu/parkolas/

  • Refreshment Stations

On the Granfondo distance, refreshment points will be located at:

  • After the Veszprémfajsz junction – approx. at km 30
  • On the Kab Hill forest road – approx. at km 70
  • Before Hegymagas – approx. at km 114
  • Tagyon – approx. at km 146

Litter zones will be established before the refreshment points. Participants are requested to dispose of accumulated waste (banana peels, gel wrappers, cereal bar wrappers, chocolate wrappers, etc.) only at the designated stations. Littering outside these zones and refreshment areas will result in immediate disqualification.

Traffic Regulations on the Route

During the 2026 KÉSZ Group Balatonfondo Granfondo, similar to previous years, the following road closure system will be applied in cooperation with the police and local authorities:

  • From the actual start in Tihany to the finish line, the main peloton +15 minutes will ride under full road closure, while those dropped from the main group will ride under partial closure.
  • Under partial closure, priority will be assisted by police, civil guards and organizers at key intersections.

At the route split in Tótvázsony, a cut-off time point will be established with the assistance of race judges. Riders arriving after 09:47 will continue on the Mediofondo route and will be ranked in that category.

The Granfondo sweeper vehicle departs from the route split at 09:47 and proceeds at an average speed of 24 km/h, progressively lifting the partial closure. Any rider overtaken by the sweep vehicle will no longer be part of the race; their race number will be marked and from that point they must obey standard road traffic regulations and return to Balatonfüred only via legal routes.

Refreshment stations will close when the sweeper car passes, at the following times:

  • Veszprémfajsz junction: 09:55 (shared with Mediofondo)
  • Kab Hill forest road: 10:55
  • Hegymagas: 12:50
  • Tagyon: 14:05

The sweeper vehicle is expected to arrive at the Balatonfüred finish line (Zákonyi Ferenc Street) at 15:30. Only riders finishing before the sweeper vehicle will appear in the results list and be eligible for podium placement.

Further Regulations

All participants must start with the race (bib) number provided by the organizers. The start area may only be occupied with a valid race (bib) number. Lifting bicycles over barriers into the start zone is prohibited and will be penalised by repositioning to the back. Each start zone will have a designated entrance; participants must line up according to their assigned start block.

Any type of bicycle may be used (road, MTB, trekking, cross, etc.), except recumbent bikes. The use of aero bars is prohibited and may result in disqualification at the start.

Riders using e-bikes will not be included in age group or overall rankings.

Participation is at individual responsibility, with mandatory compliance to race regulations and road traffic laws.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory!

The organizer assumes no responsibility for accidents, injuries or damages resulting from failure to comply with race rules or due to health reasons, and no compensation claims may be made.

All participants must place the provided race (bib) number on their back, in the centre of the jersey, and the frame number on the seat tube. Chip timing with intermediate timing points will be used. Chips will be attached to the frame numbers. A photofinish system will ensure accurate final results.

The right to modify the route is reserved (even up to the day of the event). In case of non-participation due to route changes, the entry fee will not be refunded.

Mounting action cameras or other equipment on helmets is prohibited due to safety risks. Cameras may only be mounted on the handlebar or frame if securely and safely fixed. Violation may result in disqualification.

The use of earphones or headphones is strictly prohibited during the race. Using mobile phones while cycling is forbidden.

Turning back on the course (e.g. to wait for another rider) is prohibited.

Participants must be familiar with the route and follow all signage and road markings placed by the organizers. If the lead vehicle makes an incorrect turn, the organizers cannot be held responsible and no compensation claims will be accepted.

The Granfondo GPX route file can be downloaded by clicking here.

Participants under 18 years of age are not permitted to start in the Granfondo race.

Raffle Draw

Participation in the raffle draw is only possible with a valid race number. Prizes can be claimed by presenting the original jersey race number (not the frame number!). Completing the distance is not required to participate, but personal presence is mandatory.
