SAFETY AND COMMUNITY AT THE KÉSZ GROUP BALATONFONDO – GRANFONDO DISTANCE MODIFICATION

The KÉSZ Group Balatonfondo, one of Hungary’s most popular cycling races, will be held on September 14. This event is not just a competition but also a community gathering, aiming to honor the Hungarian stage of the 2022 Giro d’Italia. The organizers prioritize safety, so due to the expected strong gusts of wind, the route has been modified. All participants will test their skills on the more sheltered 62-kilometer Mediofondo course.

Weather-related adjustments are not uncommon in cycling events – for instance, the 16th stage of this year’s Giro d’Italia was also altered due to weather conditions. Next year’s event will be scheduled in spring to account for meteorological forecasts.
